My periods were so bad I used to soak my school skirt

I’m 39 and have suffered most of my life because of endometriosis

I didn’t know pain could do that to you
October 16, 2019

I ’ve suffered since I was 13. Very bad heavy periods. So bad, l used to soak my school skirt and leak over the school chair, so I would leave at break after putting my coat around my bottom so no one would see. I’d run home as fast as possible, get changed, then rinse my knickers so my mum wouldn’t know; then go out and come in as normal. Then mum got a letter from school, saying every month I was missing from school in the afternoon and they would like to know why. So very embarrassing, we had to go into school and explain.

The doctors put me on the pill to help, and I was sent to see a specialist. I found out I had endometriosis.

When I fell pregnant with my first child I had a c-section as she was breech. They said my uterus was a weird shape, I also had very low platelets and had to have some, and also found I had fibroids. Next 2 pregnancies were also breech, I carried on with awful pain and heavy periods so a coil was suggested which has helped. I really feel for all the lovely ladies with this awful condition especially the ones my heart goes out to, who find it difficult to fall pregnant.

Persist and practice because, fingers crossed, it will work.

Love and hugs to you all,

Lisa xx
