After ejaculating, male sperm can survive inside the female body for up to 72 hours, while an egg is available to be fertilised for up to 24 hours after ovulation.
Infertility affects around 10% of the population.
20-30% of infertility cases are caused by the man, while around 30% of cases represent a mutual problem.
20% of couples in the UK trying to conceive will succeed within one month, around 85% will conceive within one year and up to 95% of couples will get pregnant within two years.
Couples who have been trying to conceive for more than three years have a maximum 25% chance of conceiving in the fourth year of trying.

Symptoms


Inability to conceive for longer than 24 months of living together and having regular intercourse
Irregular or absent menstrual cycle
Menstrual cycle that is too long or too short
Abnormal menstrual bleeding
Painful periods or pain during sex
Hormonal issues manifested by skin and hair changes, weight gain and changes in libido
Hormonal issues in men that manifest through changes in hair growth and libido, pain in the testicles or problems with erection or ejaculation
